Celebrating the 18th Annual Women of Action

The 18th Annual Women of Action event, held on December 3, 2023, was an extraordinary gathering, symbolising our steadfast commitment to cancer research. This year, our community came together at the Four Seasons Hotel to honour the remarkable achievements of Shiri Tamam, Dr. Yael Mamane, Katelyn Abbey, and Anie Rouleau. The event was further highlighted by the captivating presence of our special guest speaker, Jeanne Beker, in conversation with Debra Margles, who inspired us all with her insightful words and stories. It was a day filled with inspiration, unity, and hope, emblematic of our collective mission to make a difference.

Thank you for your generosity

Thanks to the incredible support of our attendees, sponsors and supporters, we are thrilled to announce that the 2023 Women of Action brunch event raised over $400,000 for essential cancer research. These funds will directly contribute to making a tangible difference in the fight against cancer.

Jeanne was born in Toronto to Holocaust survivors who instilled in her the importance of fearlessness, hard work, and tenacity from a young age. A founding member of MuchMusic, Jeanne continued to trailblaze when in 1985 she launched the legendary Fashion Television — which ran in over 130 countries for 27 years — establishing her as Canada’s “face of fashion.” Jeanne has published 5 books with her upcoming memoir due for publication in November 2024. She is a frequent guest on lifestyle shows, and has been at the creative helm of numerous fashion lines under her own label. Since 2015, Jeanne has worked as the style editor at The Shopping Channel (TSC) where she hosts the popular series, Style Matters, and the podcast, Beyond Style Matters. Most recently, Jeanne was co-producer on Kingdom of Dreams, a 4-part documentary series examining fashion’s golden age. Her many awards include being made a member of the Order of Canada and receiving a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame. Jeanne was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2022, but she hasn’t let it slow her down. Since her diagnosis, Jeanne has aimed to help normalize the conversation surrounding cancer and help eradicate the fear associated with the disease.
